Day 3

(Mon.)

Taipei
Meet your guide at hotel lobby. Have one day Yangmingshan national Park tour.
Yangmingshan National Park,a mountainous area where visitors can find charming waterfalls, volcanic craters, picturesque lakes, terraced rice paddies, and steaming hot spring. The profusion of cherry and azalea blossoms in the spring, and cool, fresh mountain air in the summer are added attractions. You will be visiting Hsiaoyukeng, Chingtienkang (soft trekking about 1~2 hours) and Lengshuikeng today.
*Hsiaoyukeng is at an elevation of 800 meters and contains a host of volcanically-created fumaroles, sulfur crystals, hot springs, and landslides. Sulfur vents noisily spew forth gases, and hot springs discharge endless streams of boiling water. The bright yellow sulfur crystals that can be seen here are exceptionally lovely.
*Chingtienkang is a terrace formed by lava flowing to the north from Mt. Chukao. This flat area is today an undulating grassland several kilometers across surrounded on all sides by mountain peaks.
*Lengshuikeng (Cold Water Pit) contains Taiwan's sole bed of precipitated sulfur. Sulfurous fumes vented in the bed of this marshy lake turn the water murky. After gradually precipitating, the sulfur forms whitish-yellow or pale gray layers in the lake bed. Popularly known as Milk Lake, the lake is only approximately 40°C in temperature, and not the 90°C or more found in some hot springs.

*Transport by taxi and bus (inside National Park).

*Sheding Nature Park, with a total of 128.7 hectare wide, is right beside the Kenting Forest Recreation Area. Trees inside the park that grow on reefs are naturally miniature-trees-and-rockery-shaped under the strong blow of northeasterly monsoon climate. One cannot but admire the extremely outstanding of the great nature.
*Eluanbi Park, a fiord located at the most southern part of Taiwan Island, is famous for its lighthouse. The Kuroshio Current causes the powerful ocean current of this area.  Coral reef rocks stand in great number beneath the lighthouse.  It is a park with dense forest and various species of wild lives could be seen here.
*Eluanbi Lighthouse, in 1882, for the sake of cursing safety, the government employed a British technician to build a lighthouse at Eluanbi. The building-up process was under constant invasion by local aborigines; therefore, the lighthouse was armed with cannon and embrasure.  Moreover, they trenched the edges of the lighthouse and a garrison was stationed in it. The Eluanbi Lighthouse is one of the armed lighthouses in the world.
*Lungpan Grass land & Hanging cliff: Lungpan is a huge area of grassland that stretches to the horizon. On its east side is the Pacific Ocean. This area is made of coral reef cliff, and there are limestone caves underneath the red topsoil. It’s better to visit this place before dawn or at dusk because it’s the best time for you to enjoy the sunrise, the sunset, the afterglow and the starry night sky.
