How do I get Chinese currency?
China ’s currency is the Renminbi (RMB), commonly called the Yuan. Ten Jiao make up one Yuan. At present, one Yuan is worth about CAD $0.18. For current rates, please click this link.

We suggest that you bring Canadian or American traveller’s cheques to exchange at the Bank of China for foreign currency.

Will my credit card work in China?
Major credit cards are accepted by most hotels and major stores in large cities, but not by many stores in smaller cities. Travellers are advised to pay in Chinese currency when shopping in smaller shops, eating at restaurants and staying in smaller hotels.

Will I have access to ATM machines in China?
ATM machines are available in major cities near banks.
