Wuxi is situated on the famous Lake Taihu and is a
highly industrious city in the province of Jiangsu. The city was founded under the Han Dynasty, over
2,000 years ago, and is now much admired for its vast networks of canals and cobbled streets. Visitors
must pass through the exquisite classical Chinese gardens of Wuxi and witness the unique beauty and
history of each. The construction of the magnificent Grand Canal in the 6th century created the
opportunity for industry to boom, and thus emerged silk and cotton factories that would prosper until
the present day. In fact, Wuxi is most famous for its thriving silk industry. Further industrialization
after the 1949 revolution led to the production of textiles, electronic goods and percussion instruments
and has now led Wuxi to hold one of the fastest growing economies in the country.

the lake itself: the Plum Garden, the Li Garden, and the Tortoise Head Garden. Enjoy a scenic cruise of the
lake, the shores of which are dotted with beautiful pavilions. The main canal dates back to 605 A.D. and
continues to be used.
