Experience the beautiful scenery, rich culture and intriguing historical sites of Korea on a 13 day tour that gives the independent traveler an opportunity to live the traditional Korean lifestyle and explore 5000 years of Korean history. From cities to temples to beaches to an authentic Korean traditional home-stay in Andong, it is no wonder that captivating Korea has become a popular Asia travel destination.

Day 1     Depart Home City
Your journey begins with a transpacific flight to Seoul. Move your watch one day ahead as you cross the International Dateline.

Day 2     Seoul
Arrive at Incheon Int’l Airport where you will travel to the Seoul Sofitel Hotel. Welcome to Seoul! This dynamic and exciting city is currently home to over 10 million people and exudes an interesting mix of traditional and contemporary influences. (B)

Day 3     Seoul
Embark on a city tour and explore sights such as Gyeongbok Palace, Folklore Museum, Blue House-Presidential House, Insadong Antique Street and Seoul Tower. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, catch a glimpse of Korean martial art in action during a Taekwondo Demo at Gyeonhigung. (B)

Day 4     Seoul (dmz)
In the morning, visit DMZ & the third tunnel, including the Dora Observatory tower, Imjingak Pavilion and the Dorasan railway station. Take a city tour in the afternoon of Cheongye-cheon Street. Spend the night at your hotel. (B)

Day 5     Seoul – Andong
Leave the city behind and take a drive to Andong. Tour the Andong Hahoe Village, a community of thatched-roof peasant houses and tiled-roof aristocrat villas. This village has preserved the housing architecture and the village structure of the Joseon dynasty. This genuine village still houses a small community of villagers. Later, visit the Byungsan Confucian Shrine. Transfer to the Andong Korean Traditional Homestay to spend the night. (B)

Day 6     Andong - Daegu
Transfer to Daegu. Despite holding the title of Korea’s third largest city, much of it still retains a countryside feel. Wander around Yangryeong Market and marvel at the assortment of herbal/oriental remedies. Tour the Haeinsa Templa at Mount Gaya and the Guam Traditional Farm Village. Spend the night at the Daegu Grand Hotel. (B)

Day 7     Daegu - Gyeongju
Tour the city of Gyeongiu, also known as “the museum without walls”. Designated a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO in 1995, this city boasts many fine examples of Korean Buddhist art in the form of sculptures, pagodas and the remains of temples and palaces. Take a visit to the Bulguksa Temple, Gyeongju National Museum and Seokguram Grotto, one of the world’s finest Buddah shrines. Also explore the Royal Tumuli Park, holding the tombs of the Shilla Kingdom. Adventurous travelers may arrange to climb Mount Namsan. Spend the night at the Gyeongju Commodore Hotel. (B)

Day 8     Gyeongju – Busan
Visit the magnificent Tongdosa Temple in the morning. Later, travel to the city of Busan, famous for its seafood, beaches, near-by hot springs and picturesque islands. Here you will visit the Jagalchi Fish Market, the largest seafood market in Korea; Yongdusan Park & Tower, International Markets and Haeundae beach. Spend the night at the Busan Sea Cloud hotel. (B)

Day 9     Busan - Jeju Island
In the morning, fly to Jeju Island; a top vacation spot for locals. Join an evening tour of the island featuring the Jeju Folklore Museum, Stone Park, Mystery Road and Yongduam Rock. Spend the night at the Jeju Hana. (B)

Day 10     Jeju Island
Experience the island life as you visit the Seongup Folk Village, a typical mountain village; Yakcheonsa Temple and the Green Tea Museum. An excursion to a stunning waterfall and Joongmun Beach is planned. (B)

Day 11     Jeju Island - Seoul
Spend a morning lying on the beach before flying back to Seoul in the afternoon. Take some free time to relax or hit the Itaewon Shopping Street and Dongdaemun Market for some last minute bargains or gifts. The evening’s farewell dinner will be at a local hotspot featuring Nanta Performance, Jeongdong Theatre traditional performance and Jump. Spend the night at the Seoul Sofitel. (B/D)

Day 12     Seoul
Take a free day to do as you wish. Spend the night at the Seoul Sofitel. (B)

Day 13     Seoul - Home City
Transfer to Incheon Int’l Airport via shuttle bus to catch your flight home. (B)
